When the going gets good...

Wow it's been a long time since I have blogged because of how busy my family's life has become... It's 5:46 am and the past few weeks have been amazing for my family. Things have been going so well that I have become slightly weary of all this good fortune. I know that I should just take the good as it comes just like I do the bad, but it's funny how that sometimes it seems easier to comprehend the hard times then it is when good things are happening. I guess that is attributed to my inability to let myself think I deserve all the wonderful things that have been happening lately. I do have to say that it is a wonderful feeling to finally have a sense of security in my life and feel like we are progressing on the path of life exactly how we should be. I had held out for things like this to happen for so long and now that it has I am filled with a unmeasurable amount of hope in my heart for the future. Karma has giving me more then I could ever ask for in my life, so here's to life going exactly the way it suppose to and to the wonderful family and friends who get to enjoy life's joys with you.

Karma...

Wow what a beautiful spring morning it's 5:10 and the birds are singing a song of the day ahead. This morning I would like to start the morning reflection with a quote "Karma moves in two directions. If we act virtuously, the seed we plant will result in happiness. If we act nonvirtuously, suffering results." Sakyong Mipham. It is so very important for us to realize that every little thing we do goes one way or the other on the karma scale. The smallest disruption or inhonorable act can brings us pain or suffering. I say this because even when you want to do something that is considered "bad karma" you have to really sit back and think about the ramifications. Small words can leave big imprints and send you flying in the direction of suffering. By being the bigger person and not giving in to nonvirtuous temptation you are ensuring the karma you have built up remains intact. As it is said the person who is acting nonvirtuously will see the effect of their actions in their life. So as our day goes on today and you are presented with moments where you can act with unkindness just remember that although you can use someone as an example in your generalities, pointing out someone specific and using their name will end in nonvirtuous outcomes. I know I don't need that!

A friendship that ends....

DISCLAIMER: Speaking in generalities, If you think this is about you then clearly you think too much of yourself...

Good morning everyone it is 5:54 am and the sun is out and shining down upon me this wonderful morning. This morning I would like to reflect on friendships by starting the morning with the quote “A friendship that can end never really began” Publilius Syrus quotes (Roman author, 1st century B.C.) You might be wondering why I would pick such a topic to start my day off with? Well that has an easy answer, yesterday a good friend proved for the final time that they were unreliable and untrustworthy. I have to be honest the person is very sick and in deep need of recovery, but we all know you can't force someone to get help. So this morning instead of picking them apart for everything that is wrong with them, I'd rather just pray for their recovery. Unfortunately I can't help them with how sick they are but I can look upon the good times of our friendship and remember what the beast of addiction does to people. The beast has claimed another soul and it will feed off them as long as it can till their is nothing left of them. So as we go on with our day let's reflect of who people were before addiction inflicted their lives, and remember them when they were happy souls. I know that the beast has to eat too and he found himself a feast. So here's to friendships that never were meant to be but taught us very valuable lessons.

A misty morning.....

Good morning all, it is 5:34 am and this morning I am reflecting on the darkness that is still present. My quote for today is “A misty morning does not signify a cloudy day.” What I get from this quote is that just because a morning starts off looking as though nothing good will come that day this is often untrue. The rouge of the morning can sometimes fool us into thinking that the day ahead will only contain misfortunes. It is thinking like this that makes the prophecy come true if you make it that way. So this morning let's look past the dark thick mist, and although the sun may not come out to play today who is to say it cannot come out to play in our heart. Turn your misty and cloudy day into one full of rays of sunshine and you too will no longer feel the darkness within. I hope everyone has a sunny day in their heart today and finds a way to pass that on to others. I wish you all good fortune in the day ahead of you.

Good morning all.....I have to be honest I am not feeling well this morning so I think I will present a quote and probably leave it at that for today. I hope you all have a wonderful morning and be thankful for feeling ok today. I've learned that people will forget...

Good morning all..... it's 5:39 am and my resident owl seems to be up early this morning hooting away. I feel like he and I have this special connection, he's always on time to wake me in the morning and in return I appreciate his punctuality and dependability. I would like to start this mornings reflection with the quote “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou quotes (American Poet, b.1928). This quote invokes me to think about how everything that has happen in the past was merely a minuit moment in the past that no one shall remember. I am not sure about you but I have a tendency to glorify the bad things in the past, this quote reminds me that everything that happen then no longer matters now. What matters now is how I utilize the present moment. Today I think we should all look deep in ourselves, and figure out how we can pass our happiness on to someone else. Do you know someone in your life who is down and could use some uplifting words? Take a moment today and let that person know WHY they are special, little words have big effects on peoples hearts. Strength for the day.......

Good morning! It is 5:23 am and this morning looks as though it will also bring us rain. My quote for this morning's reflection is “God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.” So many times in our life things get hard to deal with, this is when we are our strongest. Without these challenges we would have no feats to celebrate once overcoming. The tough times we endure are God's way of seeing if we can handle the things that are thrown our way, and if handled correctly we are rewarded. (My God disclaimer) I know not everyone who reads this is going to believe in God, but God is only a name of which their are many for this higher power. You may call him Buddha or something else I don't know maybe he's Frank to you. To me I refer to him as God, and my higher power. I am not affiliated with any religion and don't expect you to be, everything I put out forth is merely a reflection of life in my eyes. So don't worry I am not here to push anything on you. With that being said, I like to believe that this world is made up of forces that recognize the good you put out and rewards you based on that. In contrast if you are someone who only puts out bad karma that also will return in it's own undesirable way. So as we go on with our day this morning let reflect on how we as humans can put more good karma out their in the world. What can you do today to help another human being today? Look for the moments today that offer a opportunity for a good deed. Ponder and act on it!

The Time Just Before Dawn....

Good morning my friends! It's 5:27 am and I was up very early today as usual and to my surprise the sun decided to follow in my footsteps and was also early to rise. There is such a solice to seeing the sun rise every morning, it's such a quiet but amazing moment when it breaks the horizon. It often seems like there should be trumpets going off announcing it's arrival and yet the stillness seems to say it all at the same time.  Today's morning reflection quote is.... "The time just before dawn contains the most energy of all hours of the day. This has helped me become an early riser and an early doer.... When I wake to see that it's light out already, I feel like the world has started without me." the one thing about being able to experience the sun rise is that you become addicted to it. If you miss it and rise late you feel as though you missed the opportunity to meet with an old friend. Today is going to be a wonderful day and I have so much to be thankful for, even the hard things. You do know what they say if it doesn't kill you it only makes you stronger. So let's go forth today knowing that each and every little thing that happens is going to makes us a little stronger and build our character just a little more. Sometimes we forget that even the weeds and dandelions need mother natures love. So lets go forward with our day and remember that each and every person you run into today leaves a footprint on your path of life and that's something very special.

Rain showers my spirit....

Good morning, it's 6:10 am and this morning the sun is hiding it's vibrant face and has given us the sweet smell of rain. Many times in my life I looked at rain as though it was a omen for the bad day to come, but in my recovery I have learned that just as much as we need the sunshine we also need the rain. My quote for the day ahead this morning is "rain showers my spirit and waters my soul." If you think about it without the rain we would not have all the beauty and splendor that it brings, no more glowing poppy's or luscious roses. Without rain our crops would not grow and we would not be able to enjoy so many splendors that it brings to nature. So even though today I miss the sun already I will take the time to appreciate natures offering of nourishment and the wonderful things that will evolve from it. All too often we associate rainy days with unhappiness, and today I would like to change that. So grab an umbrella and go out and walk and sing in the rain, because if you take a moment to enjoy this one of natures splendors you will have the chance to be exposed to a whole new world you've never encountered.

Good Morning!

Well it's 6:37 AM, the birds are chirping and the summer morning sun is shinning through my window on to my laptop. I've come to a point in my life where I have realized it's the simple things now that make me happy and appreciate life like the smell of the morning dew upon the tree outside my window. I never knew such little things could make you so happy in this life, even when you could have so little at the same time. I use to dream about having the nicest car and the biggest house, but now I see that beauty is everywhere even in the worst part of town. This early in the morning when it's just me and the birds chirping is when I realize that nature and the Earth has so much to offer. The ugliest part of town even has it's most beautiful moment's. I've decided to create this blog to do my morning reflections and quotes for the day ahead. It's is only by reflecting that we can mold the future and what it has to offer us. I am not sure how many people will read this , but I know that even if one other person gets to experience the glory of morning reflection with me then I will have succeeded. If I am the only one who gets to enjoy it that is still ok with me because that is what I live for. Today my quote to set upon my day with is " do unto others as you would want done unto you". I chose this quote because it epitomizes my journey in life thus far. As a recovering addict I have learned that the world is only what you make it to be. If I put good karma out, then good karma shall return, and with that I bid you farewell for this morning and hope your reflections for the day are as beautiful as mine. <3
